Check out the pic from the holiday party at Dr. V’s house where the lab made “bitchy question hats.” This started as a metaphor, where when a student practiced a thesis defense or conference talk in lab meeting, Dr. V would say “put on your bitchy question hat” which meant “ask hard questions so that the person can prepare for how to handle them.” Then people clamored to make actual hats, so here we are, hats and visors alike!
